A few months back we posted a new web site applet that would allow visitors to your web page to quickly track their order with their OnTime tracking number. Many of our customer found that very useful in providing their customers yet another feature they had been requesting. Now we are pleased to announce that OnTime is providing a second web site applet (or code snippet) that you can use freely in any web page you like. This applet will allow the visitor to enter two postal or zip codes and get an estimate automatically from your company.

This applet is available to everyone using OnTime, no matter the subscription plan.

Here is what it looks like:

How do you create this applet and get it on your web page? The first step is to set which pricing you want the estimator to use. Access this area by entering OnTime Management Suite and going to Tools > Web Site Applets. You’ll see a window appear that looks similar to this:

You’ll need to set the price set and type of pricing you want to use. This allows OnTime to automatically generate a price based on the two postal codes provided. If zone based is selected as the type, then OnTime will use the zone based lookup table to determine the price between the two zones. If distance based is selected, then OnTime will determine the distance between the two postal codes and use that amount to calculate the price.

Finally, you can include a disclaimer which will appear to the customer when they see the price.

You are now ready to generate the code to be inserted into your web site. Click on the link labeled Generate price estimate form. You’ll be able to copy the code into your web site. If you employ a web site designer, just pass this code onto them and instruct them exactly where you want it to appear on your page. If you maintain your own web site, then using your web site editing program, paste the OnTime generated code into the desired page, at the location you need. The code you paste in will automatically generate the form needed by the visitor to get a price estimate.
